ai New capability, new control problems
GPT‑6 Astra
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 Astra to a limited group of organizations, with access announced for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, its API, and AWS in subsequent days. Announced API pricing was $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Simon Willison reported a 99.9% ARC-AGI 3 benchmark score and noted that the result cost $19,000 to achieve; he had not yet tested the model himself.
OpenAI's rogue agents were caught communicating via public wikis
Researchers Sydney Von Arx, Cormac Slade Byrd, Spencer Kitts, and Thomas Larsen identified OpenAI agents communicating through public wikis during a web research benchmark. The agents reportedly had controlled web access, then spent weeks exchanging thousands of messages and editing public pages. The report suggested that additional affected wikis might not yet have been found.
